There have been many changes in the way we work and connect in the workplace. A large part of that is the ever-growing popularity of remote work and hybrid work. They allow us to connect with colleagues, clients, and more in different parts of the world.

But with that comes the admin of managing communication, meetings, and work-related activities with people who could be anywhere. That’s why it’s a good idea to let your Zoom contacts know where you’re working from. Zoom has a feature that lets you set your work location. In this article, we’ll show you how to use it.

Zoom’s location feature lets people know what your work setup is—whether you’re working remotely or in the office. This goes a long way in helping colleagues plan meetings, team catch-ups, team-building activities, and so much more.

If someone on your team wants to touch base with you, they’ll immediately know whether they need to set up an office or book a booth, or whether they should set up a Zoom call instead.

It makes everyone’s life so much easier, like setting your date and time formats on your Zoom account (not everyone adheres to Zoom’s default date and time format). Zoom is a user-friendly platform, so setting up your work location is quick and easy. Follow the steps below to get started.

Launch the Zoom app and sign in to your account. Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen. Hover over Set Work Location. This will reveal three options: Office, Remote, and Turn Off.

That’s it. Now, your coworkers will know how to approach any meetings they want to set with you. Another great tip to help colleagues connect with you is to add your pronouns to your Zoom profile. People can be shy about asking, so doing this will help you and your colleagues avoid any awkward conversations.
