On BeReal, you only have two minutes to capture your one post for the day, which can get a bit stressful. If the photo you take is not what you want or not good enough to post, you can retake your BeReal before posting it, as long as you have time left.
However, you shouldn’t overuse your ability to retake. Here is all you need to know about how to retake a BeReal.
How to Retake a BeReal
Retaking a BeReal is simple. The key is not to rush through posting it. After taking your dual camera photo, don’t click send. This will post the BeReal and make the process longer. Just tap the gray X icon on the top right of the photo. This will delete the photo and reopen the dual camera, so you can take a different BeReal.
The two-minute timer will not reset for your retake, so make sure you have time to post, especially if you love to get your BeReal posted on time. You won’t be blocked from posting after the two minutes, but it will say you were late on your BeReal.
Can I Retake My BeReal After Posting?
It is possible to retake your BeReal after posting, but the app only allows you to do it once per day. You must delete your BeReal that was posted, and do the whole process over again. Follow these steps to delete your posted BeReal.
- Tap the three dots next to the time under your BeReal
- Tap Options
- Tap Delete my BeReal.
- Choose why you want to delete tap Yes, I’m sure
- Tap Delete
After this, retaking your BeReal is the same process as taking it normally. Tap Post a Late BeReal on someone’s blurred post on your home feed. Then, just snap the photo and tap Send.
BeReal will show your new post as late, even if your original one was on time. This will not count as a “retake” that BeReal shows your friends.
Can My Friends See If I Retake My BeReal?
Your friends will be able to see how many times you retake your BeReal before posting it. To see retakes, tap the three dots icon located on the top right of someone’s post or on the bottom right of your own post. This will show you some stats on that BeReal, including the number of times that person retook the photo before posting it.
Should I Retake My BeReal?
BeReal exists to allow its users to be authentic and stress less about looking perfect on social media. If you only want to retake your BeReal because you don’t look perfect in it, then you should probably just post the one you took.
You don’t want to retake your BeReal too many times because people will be able to see that you retook it, and people will know you are not truly being real. Save your perfect selfies for Instagram; BeReal is for those in-the-moment photos.
That being said, if you took your BeReal by accident or if your photo is an invasion of someone’s privacy, you should probably retake it. Everyone has to retake the photo once in a while, it is not bad that people see a retake sometimes.
Retakes on BeReal
BeReal should be a fun and stress-free app, so if you need to retake a photo or if you’re wondering about if you should retake it, you should do what will make you feel happy and confident. Try not to worry about what other people think.
Retaking a BeReal is easy, but should not be overused, so always think before you post your BeReal each day.
