How to Fix the Fall Guys Epic Games Account Error (Error Code 200_001)

Fall Guys is a battle royale title many players install via Epic Games. However, some Fall Guys players see an Epic Games Account Error message with a 200_001 code when they start that game. Users can’t play Fall Guys because of this Epic Online Services issue.

Is the same error spoiling your Fall Guys fun? If it is, this is how you can fix error code 200_001 in Windows 11/10.

1. Check the Server Status for Epic and Fall Guys

As the 200_001 error message references Epic Online Services, first check for any server-side issue. Server-side issues rarely occur for Epic titles, but Fall Guys and Fortnite can sometimes go down for scheduled maintenance. You can check for server-side incidents on the Epic status page. Click Epic Online Services and Fall Guys on that page to see if they’re fully operational.

If that page shows Epic Online Services or Fall Guys is not operational, you probably can’t resolve error 200_001 yourself. Wait a few days until the server-side issue gets sorted. Then try launching Fall Guys again.

2. Sign Out and Back Into Epic Games

Logging out and back into an Epic Games account is a simple potential error 200_001 solution that has worked for some Fall Guy players. So, maybe doing the same thing will work for you as well. You can sign out and into Epic Games in the following steps:

  1. Open up your Epic Games Launcher software.
  2. Click the round account button on the right side of the Epic Games window.
  3. Select the Sign Out menu option.
The Sign Out option in Epic Games

  4. Then restart Epic Games, and select Sign in on the same menu.
  5. Input your Epic Games account details within the login boxes.

Now go to your Epic Games library and launch Fall Guys from there. Did this resolution work for you? If not, proceed to the third potential error 200_001 solution.

3. Verify Fall Guys

Verifying Fall Guys is among the more widely confirmed fixes for the 200_001 error. Epic Games has a Verify option that scans Fall Guys’ files when selected. That’s a good troubleshooting option because it fixes corrupted installations and restores game files. This is how you can verify Fall Guys:

  1. Run the Epic Games client software.
  2. Click Library in the left sidebar to view your games.
  3. Next, click the ellipses (…) button for Fall Guys.
  4. Select Manage to access the Verify button.
    The Manage option

  5. Click Verify to initiate a file scan for Fall Guys.
    The Verify button

The verification scan will likely be quick because Fall Guys isn’t a big game in terms of storage size. A verifying progress bar will appear below Fall Guys in your gaming library. Wait for the verification scan to finish before closing Epic Games.

4. Verify Windows System Files

If verifying Fall Guys doesn’t work, run a System File Checker scan. The System File Checker (SFC) tool verifies Windows files. You can run an SFC scan inside the Command Prompt like this:

  1. First, select the Windows search tool’s taskbar shortcut (the magnifying glass button).
  2. Type Command Prompt inside the search utility’s text box.
  3. Click Command Prompt with the right button on your mouse to select a Run as administrator option.
  4. Then execute this System File Checker command:sfc /scannow
    The SFC command

  5. Wait for the System File Checker utility to finish the scanning.

How long an SFC scan will take can vary, but it doesn’t usually last much longer than 20 minutes. It will display a Windows Resource Protection message when finished. If the result says SFC found corrupted files but couldn’t fix them, try executing the following command before running a second SFC scan:

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

The RestoreHealth command runs a Deployment Image Servicing Management scan. That scan applies repairs to the system image, which can fix the SFC tool not working.

5. Flush the DNS

Error 200_001 can also arise because of network glitches. Resetting an internet connection by flushing the DNS can feasibly resolve such glitches. Try flushing your PC’s DNS in the following steps:

  1. Run Command Prompt as administrator as instructed for the first three steps of the previous solution.
  2. Input this flushdns command and hit Enter:ipconfig /flushdns
    The ipconfig /flushdns command

  3. In addition, execute all the following commands:ipconfig /registerdns
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    netsh winsock reset
  4. Then exit Command Prompt, and click Start menu’s Power > Restart options.

Try playing Fall Guys after the restart. If error 200_001 persists, don’t give up! The next potential resolution below could resolve the issue.

6. Change to a Google DNS Server

Your PC’s DNS server might not be a very reliable one. Some users have been able to fix error 200_001 by changing their PCs’ DNS servers to better alternatives, such as Google. So, changing DNS server settings on your PC is another potential error 200_001 fix worth trying.

7. Uninstall and Reinstall a Visual C++ Redistributable Package

The 200_001 error can occur because of a corrupted or missing Visual C++ Redistributable package. Reinstalling the latest Visual C++ package on your PC could resolve such an issue. Follow these steps to reinstall the latest Visual C++ Redistributable on your PC:

  1. Bring up the Windows Apps & Features uninstaller tool to view installed software in Settings.

  3. Click the menu button (with three dots) for the latest Visual C++ package version. In Windows 10 Settings, you can select the package.
  4. Select the Visual C++ package’s Uninstall option.
    The Uninstall option in Settings

  7. Next, open the Explorer folder navigator and the directory containing the downloaded Visual C++ Redistributable package.
  8. Double-click VC_redist.x64.exe to view a Visual C++ 2015-2022 installer window.
  9. Select the I agree box for licensing terms.
    The Visual C++ 2015-2022 installer

  10. Click Install to finish.

Then close the installer when it says “setup successful.” Select to restart your laptop/desktop. Open Epic Games Launcher and launch Fall Guys to see if the issue persists.

8. Reinstall Fall Guys

  1. Open the Epic Games Launcher window, and click its Library tab.
  2. Click the menu (ellipses) button for Fall Guys.
  3. Next, click Fall Guy’s Uninstall option.

  4. After uninstalling, select Fall Guys in your Library tab.
  5. Press the Install button to reinstall the latest Fall Guys version.
